sun catcher

We went to "Nu-den market" at Ariya Community Center today.
It was a fine day and there were many people. There was a park next to the Community Center and many kids were playing with the slides and swings.

As soon as I got there, I fell in love with this sun catcher.
The seller was a mom of Holly's classmate. In her booth, she had beautiful hand made earrings, hair sticks, and sun catchers.

It was one of the biggest sun catcher. Tear drop shaped glass was shining in a million angles, and in rainbow colors under the sun.

I was so happy to meet it.
Tomorrow, I will hang it by the window so it will catch rays of sunshine!
I cannot wait!

momo holly

After putting away the Hina dolls and other ornaments for Girls day, I started taking out some ornaments for Boys day from our closet.

Holly was trying to help me by opening up all the boxes and bags in a storage box.
We put out a tiny set of flying carps, Kintaro patchwork piece, flying carp dolls, etc.

Then he found a vest which was a gift given by Holly's grandaunt when he was born. It is just for ornamental use. Not to wear.
Though he insisted to wear it. It is a bit tight for Holly, but it did fit.
For two nights, he is wearing it. He seems so satisfied.
He calls it Momotaro vest.

quote

From my friend's Facebook page....

"Your time is limited, don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinion drowned your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary" ~Steve Jobs

It has already made my day!

chard

Somehow things find their ways to get into our hands.
Especially edibles.
Almost every day, we receive some edibles from our neighbors and friends.
We deeply appreciate it.

One of our neighbors gave us this chard.
Now I am ready to boil some water for it.

When I had it for the first time, I didn't know this vegetable had an English name.
I looked it up on the net, coz didn't know how to eat it.
I had a grin on my face when I finally found the name!
Chard, it is... It comes in colors as well. White, red, and yellow.

Someday, I wish I could try red and yellow ones.
Should I grow them in my field??? Then give them out to our friends and neighbors???
Maybe I should!

nostalsia

It is almost 13 years since I left the States.
From time to time, I have some craving for food I used to eat.

The city I spent my younger days is filled with people from all over the world.
Various languages, various nationalities, various food..... and so on.

This recipe book provides me what I have been longing for 13 years.
It satisfies my nostalgic feelings almost perfectly.

I cooked "Chicken Soup" from scratch by following the recipe precisely.

My hubby Panda loved the soup. He even had the third serving!
"I never thought we can cook Chicken Soup like this. It tastes just like Cambell!!!" He commented.

So far, I tried coleslaw, French Fries, and pumpkin pie. They all came out great. Tasted just like I remembered.

fish pt3

The pic is from yesterday's Nankai Nichi Nichi Newspaper.
Now I know why my neighbors were so frantic with the fish "Ohsaba."

It has been 30 years since the fish had been seen and caught!!!! That is whyface08

It's just so amazing how little I know about many things.
Without the article from yesterday's newspaper, I might not appreciate deeply enough how lucky I was to have them.

Blessed days, blessed fish.....
Thanking our neighbors, thanking the newspaper, thanking the fish.

girls day

According to Luna Calendar, today is March 3rd, thus it is Girls Day.
New baby girls will be blessed and stay healthy if they wet their feet in the ocean on this day. Blessing by Sea goddess ( if I remember it correctly..... Am I right???)

In the afternoon, we walked down to the beach nearby. Mo was curious to watch the waves. It was very windy.
As soon as her feet touched the wave, she screamed out. I guess she was surprised by the cold water and waves coming at her.

Hope she will stay healthy!!!

hunger strike

Mo's second day at school.
Dropped her off at 9am and went to pick her up around noon today.

The teacher told me she didn't eat at all.
She refused to eat a chunk of banana for snack time, she cried and tried to knock the spoon off from the teacher's hand at lunch, and she even refused to have any milk.

She was so furious she didn't even make any eye contact with me for 5 min when I saw her at school.

Teachers are so worried about her.
We will see how it goes.
Mo, eat please!

First day

It was Mo's first day at nursery school.
Mo spent 3 hours there. I spent 2 hours there..... It is very first day, so teachers wanted to talk to moms how the babies are doing at home.

4 babies including Mo and 2 teachers in the class.
Teachers are Holly's former teachers, so I feel very comfortable with them.

May Mo have great days at school!!!!

The return of fish!

When I was driving down the street to our house, once again the next door neighbor lady was standing in front of her garage with her husband. I was coming from nursery school after picking up Holly.

She waved her arms at us, so we stopped.
She asked "You want more fish???"

How could we say no? There is only one answer for that. "Yes."

So, now I am frying the fish again. Never ending.....
When will we have dinner tonight????

fish fish fish!

This afternoon, my next door neighbor lady gave us a bowlful of tiny fish called "Ohsaba(?)."
Her husband went to his field in the mountainside in the morning and never came back for lunch.
Around 2pm, he came back from the oceanside with fish, according to our neighbor.

"Deep fry them just like kibinago fish," the lady told me.
So I did. It took forever to finish frying them. Never ending.
One dish was simply cooked with salt. The other one I marinated with ginger, soy sauce, and cooking wine and deep fried.

They were extremely delicious!!!
Holly couldn't stop eating them.

Another lucky Sunday for us!!

So he helped....

I made some fried rice and island pumpkin soup.

Holly came into the kitchen and said, "I want to help you!"
So he helped to put rice on the plates.
(You can see he dropped some on the top of the oven!!)

He looked very good and professional with the apron!!!

His chicken pox is healing so quickly. All the bumps are dried up by now.
He might be able to go to school on Monday, thank goodness!

apron

When I made Mo her futon bag, I picked Ultraman Max patterned cloth for Holly, too.
His Snoopy apron is too small for him, so I decided to make an apron for him.
As soon as he found that Ultraman Max cloth, he was overjoy. "When will you start making it, Mom? Now?"
He kept asking.
Finally I had some time tonight.
I even put two pockets with left over ultraman cloth.
One thing is done! Yay. I feel so much better.

chicken pox

Last night I looked at Holly's back when he was undressing before taking a bath. There were about 15 tiny bumps.
With a closer look, I found 2 bumps on his face, one on his neck, and some on his legs, thigh, and arms.
He had no fever, and ate well....

One girl in his class got chicken pox last week......
Yes, Holly got it too.

Luckily he was vaccinated so his symptom is not severe at all.
The doc says it might heal within 5 days. Another 5 more days stuck at home!!!

Well guess better than 7 days or longer....

One concern is whether Mo is infected or not....
I am crossing my fingers!!!

Now, he is taking a nap. ZZZZZZZZZZ

turning point

These books have enlightened my life.
The first encounter with the name, Peter F. Drucker was in "My Biography" section of Nikkei Newspaper about 5 years ago. At that time, he was still alive. I don't remember the articles in details, though his name was stuck in my head.

Then, about 3 years ago, I came across with his name again when I took a venture business seminar at the town community hall. The seminar changed my way of thinking. It opened my eyes that I need to participate in the economy in order to grow and make contribution. Make myself useful in a society.

And, last year, the book "moshi-dora" became a million seller. When it became a big hit, I had hesitation to purchase it. It took a while to make a decision to get it in my hand. It was last November I purchased it at Tsutaya. And it took about another month to finally start reading it. However, alas, it only took a night to read it through.
It is so well written. It naturally lead me to the book, Management.

Now, I am trying to apply the method and philosophy into my life, family, and work.
It will be a long winding road to take, but the road has to be taken right now in order to live well.

Because the world is at crisis now, we have to have integrity in our heart.
